Wedding Industry Awards 2012

Wedding band, One Foot in the Groove were delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. We were the only live band in the East of England to have been shortlisted. We are very greatful to all of our previous clients for nominating us. We know there are litterally hundreds of bands to choose from for your wedding, some good, some not so good. Essex and London wedding band, One Foot in the Groove are full time professional musicians and I know I mention this a lot but believe me it makes a huge difference to the quality of the music. Our nomination also shows clients that we are exceptionally experienced playing at weddings. We play the right things and we know when to play them. We give our couples complete assurance that their wedding day will be fabulous.

Themed Events

I’ve written about this in a previous post but if you are looking for something a little bit different for your party, wedding or event then why not opt for a tribute act or band. Now I’m not a fan of all of them but some can work really well, especially if you combine the tribute act with a Professional DJ aswell, then it doesn’t matter if the band play Beatles all night because your DJ will play everything else.
Essex party band, One Foot in the Groove offer a 70′s tribute band. In fact One Foot in the Groove started off as a 70′s band back in 1999 and evolved over time but we love nothing more than puttin gon our flares, frilly shirts and dodgy wigs and groovin’ all night. Hence the bands name.
You could choose to have a 70′s themed night, we are able to offer this as a trio for restricted bugets and small venues right up to a 10 piece band with a full horn section. What a lot of our clients do is have a themed set of 70′s disco and then the rest of the night we play a selection of material from our very large repertoire.
This works brilliantly as you get a fully costumed themed set and a huge variety of other great songs to dance a long to. Take a look at some of the boys in their 70′s gear!!

Case Study – Elanie and Chris Part 2

A continuation from our first post, last Friday March 9th Elaine and Chris finally became Mr and Mrs Carline. The wedding took place at Three Rivers Country Club in Essex and I worked closely with the couple in the run up to the wedding to provide them with a variety of live music options for their wedding day.

Ceremony

The couple opted for an acoustic duo of male vocals/guitar and a female vocalist to provide the live music. Elaine walked down the aisle with her dad, Colin to “Here Comes the Bride” A traditional song but with a modern edge as it was played on guitar. They choose to sign the regsiters to ” I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and ” Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, both of which worked beautifully with just guitar and vocals. The recesional was to “Greatest Day” by Take That

Drinks Reception/Wedding Breakfast

As the drinks reception was partly inside and party out we decided not to have anything live through the drinks reception as guests wouldn’t all be together. Instead with a capitive audience for the wedding breakfast Elaine and Chris decided on a saxophone and guitar duo. The guys played the new Mr and Mrs Carline into the wedding breakfast to “All You Need is Love” and then they played two sets through the meal and included songs by, Michael Buble, Adele, Frank Sinatra, Al Green and Ella Fitzgerald. The live music created a lovelt atmosphere without being obtrusive, you still want your guests to be able to talk.

Evening Reception

The new Mr and Mrs Carline kicked off the dancing to Songbird, followed by Moondance before we got the party started with a real mix of music from Motown, disco, rock, indie and some current chart stuff. We played three sets of live music rounding of the evening with a couple of songs chosen by Elaine and Chris, Amazed by Lonestar and Heaven by DJ Sammy.

Case Study – Chris and Elaine, part 1

Just thought I’d give you soem ideas on the diffrent ways you can incorporate live music within your wedding day. This week, Essex wedding band, One Foot in the Groove, will be playing for the wedding of Chris and Elaine at the lovely Three Rivers Golf and Country Club, a venue the band have played at many times before.
Elaine and Chris really wanted a live band for their evening reception but they wanted to have something else for the rest of the day.
I met with Elaine and Chris when they first decided to book the band to give them some ideas. With a lttle bit of help and playing with the budget they had already allocated to the entertainment for their day we came up with: an acoustic duo for the ceremony, to include the songs of their choice and both male and female vocals. Due to the location of the drinks reception we felt that it might be better to have something during the wedding breakfast, so the decision was made to have a guitar and saxophone duo. Ian Thompson, saxophone player in Essex is a very experienced musician who works with One Foot in the Groove on a regular basis will be organising all the music for this part of the day. Finally the 5 piece wedding band in Hertforshire and Essex will be playing for the

evening reception.
I’m not going to give anything away as to the songs that the couple have chosen but I’ll update you with pictures and video of the big day.
When you are thining about having some live music for your wedding, it doesn’t just have to be a band in the evening, there are lots of options you can choose. We always make a point of giving you a few ideas to think about and within the budget that you have.

The band in the press

Its always nice when you get featured in the press. Essex wedding band, One Foot in the Groove, are currently heavily featured in the latest edition of An Essex Wedding Magazine.
There is a long write up on choosing the music for your wedding day, called Musical Memories. I talk about what an honour its is to be asked to part of someone’s wedding day and what a great atmosphere a live band can create at a wedding.
We are also featured in the real weddings section as we were delighted to have been asked by the magazine’s editor, Louise Prance to play for her wedding at Smeetham Hall Barn last October. This is what Louise said about the band.
Hi Louise,

I just wanted to say thank you so much for such a wonderful set and for putting up with a plethora of drunken idiots!

However, everyone absolutely loved you guys and in fact has been one of the main talking points. I have given your details to a lot of (unmarried, will no doubt be married soon) people!

It was fun, lively and exactly the tone that I wanted.

Thank you so very much.

Thank you once again,

Louise x October 2011
managing Editor of An Essex Wedding Magazine

Louise created a wonderful, decadent 20′s feel to her big day and looked simply stunning in her Jenny Packham dress. We felt very honoured to have been asked to play for her big day as she really wasn’t short of choice.

Heart FM wedding fayre – Part 2

Vad and Jim

Vocal and piano jazz duo

The Heart FM wedding show ran over two days, on the second day, Sunday 19th February the 6 piece band played live in the fabulous Vicarage marquee. We played some of our huge repertoire and I was delighted with the bookings we managed to take. The Jazz Collective also played some background music, perfect for drinks and the wedding breakfast, and our lead singer, Vad sang some great stuff with our keyboard player, Jim. If you are looking for something classy and laid back for your drinks reception you couldn’t go far wrong hiring the two of them. The great thing about Essex wedding band, One Foot in the Groove is our versatility. We can now provide a jazz trio, an acoustic duo, a vocal and piano duo and a saxophone and vocal duo. All options for the your wedding day, pluds of course the band in the evening. Many of our couples want live music to be a big part of their wedding day, so we work closely with them to provide the bespoke solutions. There isn’t much we can’t do

The Band in the News

Bride of the month – Karen

Over the last twelve months we have featured quite heavily in bridal magazines and newspapers so I thought I post some of them onto our blog. Early last year the band played for Adam and Karen at Three Rivers Golf and Country Club. We had the 7 piece band and because Adam is Jewish the band played some traditional Israeli music for dancing, which we love. We got the happy couple up on chairs with their hankies, it was great fun.
Karen subsuquently won ‘Bride of the Month’ in the local Gazette newspaper and I’m delighted to say has now been nominated for ‘Bride of the Year’

Heart FM Wedding Fayre

Essex wedding band, One Foot in the Groove are often asked by potential clients if they can come and see the band live before they book. Its a perfectly reasonable question, after all you want to know what you are getting before you part with any money. In reality that’s much harder. Most professioanl wedding bands don’t do public gigs, all of their work is for private clients, in our case 95% of our work comes from weddings, so its impossible for a prospective client to come along and see us. You can’t really gate crash someone elses wedding!
One Sunday 19th February the band will be playing at The Brentwood Centre, at The Heart FM Wedding Show. The band will be playing at regular intervals between 10am and 3pm. You will get the chance to see and hear us. The Jazz Collective will also be playing, if you are looking for some lovely background music for your drinks reception and or wedding breakfast and we also hope to launch our acoustic duo, Acoustic Grooves. A duo of guitar/vocals and female vocals. A very comtemporary option for couples again looking for some live music for their drinks reception and or wedding breakfast. These two smaller bands can be combined with Herts and Essex wedding band, One Foot in the Groove to provide live music for the duration of your wedding day.
Take a look at our bespoke wedding page on the bands website for more information on what we can do for your wedding. If you have any questions come and down and see us at the Brentwood Centre on Sunday 19th February
